Excellent value for money
The pen is supplied in a fairly nice presentation box. Mine needed the reset switch keyed before charging was successful, other than that worked ok. Supplied power supply didn't work but does charge from a PC so no real problem there. The software supplied on the CD was highlighted by my antivirus software as containing a virus (can't remember the exact one) but as this is just the media player it's not too much of an issue. VLC player plays the generated AVI clips okay and (I think) media player will as well providing the H263 video codec is installed. All in all for around £20 it does a fairly good job. Only gripes are that the slightest movement of the pen makes the resulting video so blurry it's useless, but this really isn't down to the actual quality, more the limitations of the principle of use and that the instructions are appalling.

To summarise them -
One press of the button - yellow light on - standby
Another press - blue light on - recording
Another (short) press - yellow light back on - standby
A long press - yellow light goes off - device switched off
Yellow blinking light - charging (goes solid yellow when complete)


Still, it did it's job and helped me catch the co-worker who was stealing from me. Focus is good, pic quality is good, sound not bad, certainly portable and fairly easy to use.

What exactly else do you want for £20 ish?

Absolutely worthless and a frustrating time waster
Everything other reviews say about this is all true, good and bad. I bought one early this year and it worked well . Twice. The picture and sound were clearer than inspected and (once I had downloaded AVI) playback was as easy as possible. Then it stopped working and has never worked again. When charging, the yellow light does go on, but it never goes off when removed. Long or short button presses make no difference. You just have to wait for the battery to die and the whole sorry cycle starts again. mine is sitting here oon front of me, yellow light beaming away.

I should have been suspicious when the box came with tiny notes from the UK supplier saying don't give us bad reviews, just contact us. Clearly they know that whether these work is completely random. They must not test them, just post them out. As said elsewhere the "instructions" are shockingly poor; the worst I have seen in English for a long time. I used one of the reviews here to try to get mine working.

Definitely avoid like the plague, which is a pity because when it worked it was great. But presumably it is designed to only work once so it can be sold. Just too cheap to bother getting a refund - which is maybe what they wanted me to think. At least Amaazon let one give honest feedback.

Spypen
Product arrived vey quickly, well packed and once charged, worked as advertised.

Video and sound quality is excellent although the video is a bit oversaturated with colour.

Minor suggestions for improvement.
On/off switch could be better placed as i inadvertently switched it on when plugging into charger so it was running the whole time it was charging.

It would be nice to be able to record sound without video so it could be used as an electronic voice memo but it is not possible, its either all or nothing.

Instructions have been poorly translated from Chinese to English and could be far better.

By trial and error, i have found that you only need to press the button lightly once to initialise the recorder and then it automatically starts recording video shortly after, no further need to press the button again except when switching off, the button needs to be held down for around 5 seconds to shut it down.

The supplied CD is a waste of time as the video program is in Chinese and the electronic manual (Word Docu) is ridiculous to try to understand , but a download link to the english version of the video program is enclosed with the product on a separate piece of paper and works very well when viewing recorded video.
