A fun comedy-drama for dog lovers3
`Marley & Me' stars Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston as John and Jenny who take on a labrador puppy named Marley, only to find he isn't as easy to look after as they first anticipated.

When I came out of the cinema after seeing this film I was a little confused about which type of film this is supposed to be - it wasn't a rom-com, it was a little too serious and touched on some very sensitive topics at times to be a comedy yet it was very funny as well, making it a bit too light-hearted for the most part to be a drama. Either way it was a very enjoyable film that was as heart-warming as it was tragic. Anyone who has had a dog (especially one from when they're a puppy) will be able to relate to a lot of the scenes early on in the film and will have you laughing and cringing with memories of when your own dog had gotten into trouble the way Marley does.

The acting from both of the lead cast wasn't too bad, however I've never been much of a fan of emotionless Owen Wilson but he was pretty good in this. One problem I found was that the film was quite steady paced to begin with but then began to jump not just months but years at a time, with Wilson reading his articles to cover what had happened, so it felt a bit rushed around the middle of the film.

Overall this is a very nice film that is quite easy-going but I will guarantee you will have a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye by the end.

Heartwarming but sad...5
The first time i saw the advert for 'Marley And Me' was in the previews of another film - and it didn't show much about it at all.
I entered unsure but i am so glad i saw it. This probably sounds soppy, but i don't think i have ever cried so much in a cinema before.

The story of John Grogan, his wife Jenny and their dog Marley is heartwarming, sweet and will really get the tears flowing. They experience the ways of life, ups and downs, plus 3 kids along the way. Marley is incredibly micheavous and crazy, he doesn't listen to anybody and does not pay attention, but that is how you end up loving so much.
It has quite a few funny moments, but still a mixture of drama, comedy and tragedy.

Don't let the other reviews be put off by this movie - Its a real family film and trust when i say every man, woman and child will have a tear their eye by the end.

A word of advice - get the tissues ready :)

A Good Family Film4
