Everybody's on anti-depressants. Not being happy all the time makes them stressed out of their tights. Carol practises uninhibited sex which ends with her panty liner stuck to the bottom of someone's shoe. Donnie, after a mystery bite in a third world country, thinks he's incubating a nest of spiders up his bum. Daphne gets fat. She makes soup all the time and wonders if Woolworth's sell a hose pipe to fit a Vauxhall Vectra. Pierce is a poet; a fat balding womaniser who's only steady relationship is with a cup at the sperm bank. He's the only one not on anti-depressants, and he's the hero.

Review
"'Laura Marney is one of Scotland's best-kept literary secrets. This is a biting laugh-out-loud satire which is never crueller than life. Marney's unlikely heroine meets life head on and lives on in the reader's imagination long after the book is finished. An energetic, edgy book with wide appeal' - Louise Welsh, author of The Cutting Room; 'Laura Marney writes about strong characters who are utterly bellevable and all too human. She consistently examines their experiences, relationships and foibles with insight, compassion and a rollicking, earthy humour which makes for great reading. If you suffer from giggle incontinence, beware!' - Zoe Strachan, author of Negative Space; 'Biting wit, brilliant characterisation and hilarious antics - whether you are 16 or 60, you'll be rocking in your chair' - Scottish Daily Record; 'Marney's book is consistently engaging and hits all the right notes' - Glasgow Herald"

Customer Reviews
Why are computers so baffling?
Funny but a bit one trick pony liked the harried group of women also enjoyed the ginger baby!
A bit crude!
After reading and loving Laura Marney's first book "No Wonder I take a Drink" I couldn't wait to give "Nobody Loves a Ginger Baby" a go.
I found the book funny, although in my opinion not as funny as "No Wonder I take a Drink" but what disappointed me the most was the crude language used in the book, I didn't think there was any need. "No Wonder I Take A Drink" isn't without a few swear words but I didn't fine it crude, was able to lend it to my Mum who thoroughly enjoyed it and thought I could do the same with "Ginger Baby", but I really feel she would be offended.
Funny book but more could have been put into the humour than the profanities.
Disappointed
I was looking forward to this book after being recommended it at a book festival. Out of the 6 books I read on holiday, this one came 6th.
Characters unlikeable, not very funny and unrealistic I thought. Sorry author!!!
