I didn't think I needed it, but I did...
I got this gadget as a present a couple of years ago and I didn't think it could be so useful. It is, basically, a press through which you run your vegetables that are cut by the blade at the end. It is very easy to operate: you position the chipper on a worktop, lift the handle, put the vegetable inside and press down. That's it! Perfect chips or crudités, or even dice, if you process the vegetables twice. I use it a lot for diced cucumber salads and for crudités for dipping, it is so quick. I have different blades so I can play with different measures: 9mm, 7mm and 6mm, I didn't think the difference could be noticeable, but I was surprised by the results: the 6mm makes really fine straws, nice for stir frying as well; the 7mm is standard chips size and good for carrot munchies and the 9mm is "king size". The chipper is very easy to disassemble, just turn the handle until it stops, so that you can remove the cutting blade, remove the matching pusher from the handle (they are colour coded to match the different blades) and wash by hand or put in the dishwasher. You can lay it on its "head" for space saving storage. A really clever tool.

Great chipper!
I recommend this item. I wanted to make thin french fries and they work perfectly with the smaller of the two blades. Its generally easy to use though you sometimes need to push quite hard to get a big potato to go through it! Its sturdy, easy to clean and can be stored on its end so it doesn't take up much room. Also ideal for other vegetables for stir fries and salads such as courgettes, cucumbers, carrots.

Not up to the job
This is one of the few items I have ever had to send back to Amazon (who dealt with it impeccably by the way)
It looked great, till we got it out of the box - and decided that there was no way it would be man enough to chip a normal potato, let alone the sweet potatoes we were hoping to use it with (You should try chip shaped roasted sweet potatoes - they are great)
