Manufacturer's Description
Morphy Richard’s PerformAir bagless upright is considered by many to be the ultimate multi-surface floor cleaner.
Supplied with a variable power control for versatile cleaning on even the most delicate surfaces and a brush bar switch off function to effectively and gently clean hard floors at the flick of a switch , it is clear to see the ‘PerformAir’s’ many strengths for multi-surface cleaning.
Also designed with allergy sufferers in mind, this fantastic product is incredibly hygienic. Featuring a click-to-clean filter system and a one-touch emptying mechanism, it keeps the user safely away from the contained dust. To support this function the cleaner includes a washable lifetime HEPA filtration system to trap even microscopic dust particles, preventing them from escaping back into your home.
To reduce the amount of emptying, the cleaner is also fitted with a huge 4.8 litre dust container that is supplied in a translucent purple colour to complement the stylish metallic lilac framework. Additional features that highlight the ease of use of this product include an extra long reach hose and anti-tip design for safer stair cleaning, a handy on-board holder for polish and dusters and a storage tray for bits and pieces picked up whilst cleaning.
Offered with a 2 year guarantee, the Morphy Richards ‘PerformAir’ cleaner is a fantastic choice for any family household.

A few design flaws but impressively powerful
When buying a new vacuum, the first choice for me was, to be honest, to Dyson or not to Dyson. I really like Dysons. I have owned two and they were both amazingly efficient. I have never bought a new bagless cleaner before that was not a Dyson, but this time at the shops I just didn't have a lot of money. So I was looking for a cheaper alternative. After looking at several alternatives I bought this one. the big question for me was 'will this clean as well as my Dysons did?'.
The short answer is 'yes'. If you want a solid vacuum this will do the job. It quickly sucked up so much dirt I would have been embarassed, had I not been able to vacuum in nearly a month. It did a great job on a variety of surfaces, from hard floor all the way up to a deep pile carpet. With the 'wand' attachment I was able to reach the corners of the ceilings and down behind the furniture. Emptying the cylinder was also easily done.
The difference between this model and a Dyson is in the details though. This is a bulky cleaner - quite heavy and on the deep carpet probably too heavy for my wife to use comfortably. the power switch has two positions - up for hardfloors, down for carpets, to control the beater. But you also hae to push a foot pedal to select the type of surface you are working on, and this also engages or disengages the beater. Why two switches for the same thing? On a Dyson you just put it in an upright position and remove the wand to use. On this model you have to manually attach the hose to use and to store you essentially drape it back over the machine. It looks quite untidy and prone to falling off. The narrow nozzle head does fall off its storage bracket all the tine and I have given up trying to make it stay there.
These are probably not reasons to not buy the Performair though. There are some good features too. The variety of carpet heights you can clean is a satisfying facility. It comes with a spare filter so when you are washing one, you have another ready to go. and the cylinder filter has an external agitator switch to help you get as much dirt off it as possible when its emptying time.
So, is it as good as a Dyson? Performance-wise, yes, I think so. Design-wise, slightly lacking. Worth buying? Considering it is half the price of a Dyson and yet does the same job, albeit slightly more awkwardly, I would say 'yes'.
Anyone for a workout???
Ok...where to start. This vacuum is really quite good at picking up the dust, dog hairs and dirt...BUT it would be much better if it came with a free 'Geoff Capes' to push it around for you! The damn thing is so heavy and very awkward. I feel as if I've had a 2 hour workout at the gym after vacuuming just the hall, kitchen & lounge! (Blow the stairs, they can wait 'til tomorrow) It's also very noisy, my 8 year old puts his fingers in his ears for the whole vacuuming duration. Quite honestly the thought of vacuuming now is almost a nightmare. I've got bruises too; if the handle is not 'clicked' back home properly it will fall back and wallop you, it's caught me at least twice on the leg resulting in a huge bruise each time. So, even though it does a good job where the dirts concerned I'm not sure it's worth the 'suffering' that goes with it. I wouldn't recommend it.
Great Product
Well thought out hoover with a neat little box for storing the odd item you find on the floor and dont want to hoover up- childrens lego perhaps-
I did find putting the hoover together a bit time comsuming- I can do Ikea flat packs but for some reason it took me a while to figure out how the hose fitted onto the hoover it was obvious where it went when you wanted to use it but it was only when I looked at the picture on the box that I saw how to attach it- would be nice if the instructions had a few clearer pictures.
I agree with the other reviewer that the hoover is rather heavy and like all vacuum cleaners it is very noisy but on the whole I am very pleased with my purchase- I especially liked the extra filter you get- well done Morphy Richards!
