Vax VZL-6014 Mach 4 Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Did a lot of research when I needed a new vacuum and decided on the Mach 4 because of the 6 year guarantee, the edge to edge cleaning and the stair cleaning hose.
Its a great product and a great price compared to the competition. We were going to buy an upright vacuum for the house and a handheld dyson for the car but have now got all the functionality we need in one product and a great price.
You can actually see how good the suction is as the carpet stands up - the VAX will full after just my first whole house clean showing me just how bad my last vacuum was! Its also great to clean out the car as it has a long lead and the long hose with special end piece.
If I had to critise I would comment on its weight when on the highest suction - but i think its worth the effort to get the results. Also the hose for stair cleaning is an attachment which doesn't have a home on the actual vacuum which was a little disappointing.
Impressed!
I have always used a Dyson vacuum but this time round I thought I would take a look to see what else was available. I was a bit dubious but decided to buy this Vax as it was a great price for its spec and what came with it. The 6 year guarantee also gave me peace of mind. It was really easy to put together and took no time at all. Instantly I saw fantastic cleaning results and was really pleased with the suction. It feels sturdy and well made and the little extras such as adjustable handle, cord rewind and extra long stretch hose are really useful.
I am so impressed with this vacuum for the price, there is definitely no need to pay more. It's better than any Dyson I have used and I would recommend to all.
Only for people in bungalows
We read the good reviews of this cleaner and, looking at the price and what the blurb promises, thought we couldn't go wrong. However, whilst the machine works fine in its' basic state, once you start using the tools and hose a lot of the suction is lost. In addition, although the hose claims one of the best extensions amongst similar products available on Amazon, in practice it pulls the cleaner over when you try to get it past about 3 feet - perhaps the coils are too rigid. This, combined with the weight and general clumsiness of the thing, make it impossible to do stairs unless you work out regularly. Pushing the beast around on flat surfaces is also pretty hard on the back. And finally the dust container has a reasonable sounding capacity but it's more than halved by the very low line that you're supposed to fill it to. Whilst emptying it is comparatively easy, you have to do it every five minutes. Having said all that it is a good cleaner on the the flat, as long as you're not trying to use the tools.
