Finding a good vegetarian restaurant in London can be quite a nightmare for a visitor who does not have friends to recommend one. And Paul Gaynor and Alex Bourke, the authors of Vegetarian London, are the perfect people to get recommendations from. Paul is the UK office manager for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Alex is director of the Vegan Society. They have eaten their way around hundreds of vegetarian and vegan restaurants and listed 250 of them in their book. They are grouped by postal code or county and the street address, telephone number, opening hours and nearest tube or railway station are listed. Some of the restaurants are photographed and a short description and price guideline accompanies each entry. A bonus is a section on where to find 150 of the best healthfood and wholefood shops, juice bars, and vegan pubs. There's also a map of London and a directory of vegetarian groups. Vegetarian London is part of a series of books, which includes Vegetarian France, Vegetarian Britain and The Hippy Cookbook.

An indispensible guide for discerning diners.
This guide is up to date, fun to read, and arranged in a handy local reference format. The information is well researched and personalised with the author's extensive knowledge of scoffing on the cheap. Best of all, showing the book at recommended restaurants never fails to improve the service!

Very helpful
This pocket sized guide is full of information and details of veggie restaurants in London. The guide is divided into areas, which makes it very easy to find relevant info.
It also includes shopping addresses for vegetarians (unfortunately not too many, but that's because of the lack of such shops in London) and information on vegetarian groups in London, which is a plus!

This is the April 2003 reprint with extensive updates. The back cover of the book tells you how to get free updates on any new places that opened since it was published.
