It is now estimated that as much as 10 per cent of the population in the UK and USA carries a tattoo. The huge recent growth in tattoo culture has in turn led to an influx of new talented artists, advancements in pigments and refinement of the equipment used. This giant volume includes the very best of the new work made possible by modern improvements in tattoo art. Here are 500 striking photographic images of tattoos, covering all styles from bold 'tribal' pieces, Chinese characters and hieroglyphs to delicate air-brushed designs, and from all-over 'body suits' to individual motifs - works as distinctive as the bodies they adorn. Featuring the work of the Discovery Channel's L.A. Ink stars Corey Miller, Kim Saigh and Hannah Aitchinson, and London Ink's Nicole Lowe, Louis Molloy and Phil Kyle amongst many others.

Worth the money
This is an incredible book. I've spent a lot of time looking at tattoo books over the years but very rarely have i purchased them. One of the biggest let downs with most books is the lack of decent pictures with artist information, this book does not have that problem. The photos are beautiful, with a fantastic list of artists and the studios where they work which is great if your looking for a new artist to do some work for you. The artists listed are from all over the world but there's still a great list of UK artists to choose from. For the money i think this a fantastic book.
A well produced, solid review of some of the world's best current tattoo artists.
The Mammoth Book of Tattoos is a book designed to showcase some of the world's best talent in the world of tattoo body art.
Each artist featured has their own section, with a small bio and a selection of their work. While anyone familiar with a particular artist may consider the images shown to be a rather condensed verison of a portfolio this book is a must for anyone looking to aquire a new tattoo in the near future - as a reference point on which to base further research this book is ideal.
The images are of high quality, and while the bios are not as in depth as I expected they serve their purpose to introduce the reader to the next selection of works.
For the price there's no excuse not to get this ordered, a must for any tattoo fan.
excellent book
My first two tattoos were by Lal Hardy who is a very good tattoo artist in his own right and I have to admit to having a couple of drinks with him on more than one occasion (many moons ago). He is a larger than life character and what he does not know about the tattoo world and artists within is not worth knowing. He has a real zest for life having travelled the world visiting many different Artists and in return anyone who is anyone in the tattoo world has visited him.
This book is very good quality with lots of lovely photos and a brief overview of each artist and how they got started. You will love this book if you are a tattoo artist or just looking for inspiration. I think Lal could easily write another book with a whole new set of artists, if he does I for one would buy it... Well done Lal.
