Handy to have4
I'm a strong believer in learning a few phrases in the language of the country you're visiting, even if its "hello", "please", "thank you" "where's the toilet?". Even though the majority of people you will come across speak English they really appreciate any attempts you make to speak to them in their native tongue. I've always been a fan of Lonely Planet and this book was excellent for my needs covering accommodation, shopping, sport, outdoors, food. Should you need it, there's also a small section on romance. I've had the book awhile and always take it with me when I go to Thailand. It doesn't take up much room and it gives you something to browse through on the long haul flight to refresh your memory.

Yes, well eh!!3
What do I say about a book that is never read, because I never had the time. The Thailand holiday was fantastic, but I am ashamed to say that where ever we went they either spoke English, or our guide spoke on our behalf. We will go back, and we are determined we will have have something of the language, even if it's only goodbye.
