About the Author
Expeditioning and coaching at home and abroad have given Gordon the background needed for writing this book. Thirty years experience of sea kayaking and coaching, with forays into white water and surf coaching are shared with the reader. From his early days on the West Coast of Scotland in a home-built wood and canvas kayak to Greenland, New Zealand, Tasmania, Sri Lanka, Norway, Iceland, Canada, USA, as well as every home nation and all the outlying islands, he has always pushed the limit of his knowledge and skill. He also spent three months coaching on the rivers of Nepal. As well as owning and running Skyak Adventures on the Isle of Skye, Gordon trains and assesses to the highest level within the BCU and is currently involved with the development of the new awards scheme. He is a BCU Level 5 coach (sea and inland) and Scotland's only ACA Advanced open water instructor.

Great Read5
Sea Kayak: A Manual for Intermediate and Advanced Sea Kayakers
I'm new to Sea Kayaking and wanted to buy only one book on the subject. After buying another book, which was "as much use as a chocolate fire guard" I decided on this one. I was worried because it said for intermediate to advance level paddlers, but the book is great for anyone who had been in a kayak before and understands the basics.

If you need a general sea kayaking book, then look no further. Excellent.

Inspiring5
This is the book that drove me to go on the Skyak course he runs and I had a fantastic time in Skye. It is both an enjoyable read as well as a constant reread as skills develop from beginner and above. Well written by someone who knows so much about the sport (he teaches instructors) and yet capable of encouraging beginners.

A "must have" book for the sea kayaker5
If you only have one book on sea kayaking, this is the one to have. Clear and detailed text, with great pictures
