Customer Reviews
A good revision guide
First of all, the claim that everything is explained through diagrams is slightly misleading. The diagrams are no more than mind maps, graphs, tables and sometimes just shaded-in boxes. Not what I would call "through diagrams".
This is still quite a good revision guide for AS and A2 Level Government & Politics on all exam boards. Recent and clear examples are used to back-up points, and all of the syllabus is covered.
However, at times this guide does not go into enough depth with certain points, and this is needed to secure high marks.
I would recommend you buy this product only if you use it alongside your own notes from class, it is not good enough to revise from on its own. It is also useful for last minute exam revision.
Well worth a look
Though the title `through diagrams' is a little misleading (it is more `through text boxes' really) this book provides a clear and up-to-date summary of the key institutions and issues in UK and US Politics.
Since the publication of the first edition (the one with the blue cover) two pages have been added - one on `Special Interests in Congress' and another on `Political Culture'. The latter is particularly useful as there is so little that is straight-forward on this theme in other A-Level texts. The `one page per topic' format also works well on this kind of topic.
The rest of the material in the book also looks to have been fully updated in line with events between 2002 and the end of 2005. Good for students (at AS and A-Level) and a useful tool also for teachers new to the subject or unsure of where to start.
