Synopsis
The suburbs have never been darker or funnier than in this buzz-worthy series from Showtime. To the outside world, Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise Parker, ANGELS IN AMERICA) appears to be an average mom still recovering from the death of her husband. But making a living as a single mom is tough, so Nancy does the most logical thing...and becomes a pot dealer. Surrounded by her cannabis-craving accountant (Kevin Nealon, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE), her scheming friend (Elizabeth Perkins, BIG), and her slacker brother-in-law (Justin Kirk, FLANNEL PAJAMAS), Nancy attempts to support her family without arousing suspicion from the cops or her neighbours. In the acclaimed second season, her job gets that much harder when she discovers that her new boyfriend (Martin Henderson, SAVED!) is a DEA agent. Season two shows that the series has some famous fans with music's best singing the show's hilarious theme song, 'Little Boxes,' including Elvis Costello, Death Cab for Cutie, Jenny Lewis, and Regina Spektor. This release includes the second season in its entirety, including cast commentaries, trivia, and bloopers.
Customer Reviews
Suburbia has never been this interesting!!!
"Little boxes, little boxes". "They are all made out of ticky-tacky, and they all look just the same." The title song becomes just one of those tunes that you humm to yourself while selecting cheese at the supermarket and thinking how unlucky Nancy Botwin is. Here she is, widower, mother of two, up and going entrepeneur and there just happens to be 4 other grow houses in the neighbourhood - and she finds out her boyfriend is a DEA agent. I mean seriously!!
While I don't believe season 2 has the same level of humor as season 1, season 2 is definitly incredibly funny and has more depth.
Watch it - and enjoy!!
Louise
