Product Description

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community is in denial about the teenagers recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort, preferring to turn a blind eye to the news that Voldemort has returned. Fearing that Hogwarts venerable Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemorts return in order to undermine his power and take his job, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, appoints a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch over Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students. But Professor Dolores Umbridges Ministry-approved course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them and the entire wizarding community, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry takes matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledores Army," Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

With the ability to play multiple characters, including Harry Potter, Dumbledore and Sirius Black, the videogame of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix offers fans the opportunity to wield a wand, explore all around Hogwarts, and experience one of the most exciting and dangerous years in the life of the Boy Who Lived.

Amazon.co.uk Review

‘The boy who lived’ is another movie hero whose video game adventures never seem to have matched up to the quality of his films (or books). Rather than simply repeat the predictable third person action of previous games though, this is something a bit different. It’s almost a sort of Grand Theft Auto: Hogwarts (or a variation on The Simpson’s: Hit & Run for those that are too young to know about Rockstar’s naughty blockbusters).

What this means in practical terms is that you’ve got almost the whole of Hogwarts school to explore from the off, with different missions of varying degrees of importance available from different locations. You now control only Harry, with Hermione or Ron reduced to supporting roles, although there are some short sections where you can play as Fred and George Weasley instead. The re-focus on Harry is a result of the sheer number of magical spells available to him now, from standard offensive and defensive magic to summons and levitation spells that help you uncover and unlock the hidden secret of Hogwarts.

Casting spells isn’t as simple as just pressing a button though, as you’re made to actually trace out a magical symbol using the controller (something that works particularly well on the Wii), which adds greatly to the sense of immersion. There’s also a range of similarly controlled mini-games, including wizard chess and gobstones, which you can play either in or out of the game. It’s all a vast improvement on the previous titles, with similarly superior graphics and a general air of effort not usually associated with film tie-ins.

Definitely the best HP game for PSP and a great PSP game in its own right.5
In direct comparison with the previous HP game for the PSP (goblet of fire), this really shines despite the better reviews G.O.F. received. The graphics are so, SO much better as well as the music and especially in its story telling through BREATHTAKING cutscenes which I sorely missed in G.O.F. Also the great voice acting by the cast really immerses you into the game -another thing largely lacking in G.O.F. This game, to put it simply made me want to play it...ALOT! I could hardly put it down (despite my library of games with the very highest ratings) With the previous HP, i became quickly bored and irritated with the gameplay and left it well alone.

This game has the feel of an open ended RPG in an environment all Potter fans will go crazy for! (its so detailed and beautiful) People say the NPCs are like zombies but they follow you with their eyes and if you bump into them in an invisibility cloak they jump back and look around quizzically (funny!) for example. There are some tricky bits which require an imaginative use of the objects in the HP environment (reminded me of adventure games a little) but when you succeed its so rewarding! There are always more places to see and things to do. You can also choose what tasks you want to do and I think it feels very non-linear while still giving J.K. Rowling's story highest importance.

The flaws of the game are mostly camera which occasionally isn't perfect and I think spell casting needs a bit of practice but I don't mind that :)

If you love harry potter, I think you'll really like this. Maybe it's a love it or hate it game?....either way I'VE fallen head over heels!

Crap!1
I have never seen such a crappy video game, I don't know if is the PSP version, because I have seen good reviews for other platforms. The game is slow, subtitles and voices are not syncronized at all!!! it even makes you dizzy....
When you are learning spells and make 2 mistakes, Sirius start teaching you again the spell, and you can't stop it... is so annoying!!!!
This could have been such a good game, but EA made a terrible conversion for the PSP platform.

Not good at all!1
This is one of the worst games I have 4 my psp. The sound and subtitles dont match up, task places cant be found on the map and if u forget what tasks haven't been completed there's no where to check and any hints they reckon you can get from Ron or Hermione don't exist. The character control is awful and there is no way to move the camera angle to see the surounding area. At one point in my game while out on the Hogwarts grounds I lost half the picture that never returned which ment I coundnt get the character back inside, I had to restart the game and lost most of the progress I had made. I can't believe they released this game thinking it was fit for gamers to play, it's awful!
