Average customer review:Product Description
The IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) are the national standard to which all domestic and industrial wiring must conform. A new edition of the "Wiring Regulations" - the 17th Edition - will be published in January 2008.The 17th Edition reflects significant changes to both the technical content and structure of the book. Key changes in the volume include: a change allowing a socket outlet in bathrooms (if 3ms from the edge of a bath or shower and rcd protected); extension of the Regulations to cover new special locations': exhibition shows, photovoltaic (pv) power supply systems, floor and heating systems, marinas and fairgrounds and amusements parks; and, re-numbering and re-structuring of chapters to align with international standards. "The Regulations" move from being the 16th to the 17th edition - a major shift in name and perception of its contents. The 16th edition has been in place since 1991.

Editorial Reviews
From the Publisher
Ensure that your electrical installations conform to the latest safety guidelines from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) as codified in BS 7671, Requirements for Electrical Installations.
This is especially important as the Building Regulations Part P Electrical Safety now applies to all fixed electrical installations in dwellings.
BS 7671 applies to the design, erection and verification of electrical installations, also additions and alterations to existing installations. Existing installations that have been installed in accordance with earlier editions of the Regulations may not comply with this edition in every respect. This does not necessarily mean that they are unsafe for continued use or require upgrading.
BS 7671:2008 includes changes necessary to maintain technical alignment with CENELEC harmonization documents.
BS 7671:2008 Requirements for Electrical Installations comes into effect on 1st July 2008.
Installations designed after 30th June 2008 are to comply with BS 7671:2008.

The Biggest Big-Red-Book since Monty Pythons Effort
Put simply, this book is the most compulsive reading matter I`ve come across since, erm ... The 16th Edition - & that was a right Corker.
The BSi & IET have surely outdone themselves with this Big Bulging Sexy book of regs, offering far more methods of protection to Persons & Livestock than ever dared before.
If I were to die tomorrow through fault of a missing equipotential bond, it certainly wouldnt be due to misinterpretation of this Book which takes safety to almost unparalled levels.
+++ A Cracking Read +++
Return of the Regs! feat Mark Morrison on basson.
Just what every sparks needs.
Its like the 16th edition.....On safety crack!
Yep for your money (alot of money at that) you get page after page of regulations that you will probably never know but possibly may need one day(but probably wont).
And then be happy when you get the amendments going though the book crossing out the regs that mean nothing and sticking a nice bit of paper in the back of the book.
Unfortunately if this is your line of work you will need it.
1001 ways to use an RCD
A murder mystery where people and livestock are getting murdered all across Europe. Only one man can stop it - the RCD! With the help of his partner equipotential bonding, they trawl through the regulations and fight against needless bureaucracy. Just wait until the sequel where they find out the RCD is actually a drug addict and keeps tripping out!
