Fast intelligent processing and superb image quality
Canon's DIGIC III processor provides fast response times plus superb image quality and colour reproduction. It also powers a suite of Face and Motion Detection technologies as well as Red-eye Correction to give you better, more true-to-life people shots.

For sharp clear people shots you simply press the shutter button halfway down, and the camera uses Face Detection to automatically pinpoint up to nine faces in a scene, then adjusts focus, exposure, flash setting and white balance for optimal results with natural-looking skin tones. Motion Detection technology uses changes in scene information and scene brightness to accurately identify subject motion. The optimal ISO level is then set automatically to minimise blur and maximise image quality.

Automatic Red-eye Correction is available in both shooting and playback mode and accurately removes the red-eye effect caused by flash.

Customise and correct colour as you shoot
My Colors Mode lets you customise colour reproduction before shooting and correct individual colours on the LCD screen as you're shooting. My Colors offer you many options, such as 'Positive Film' which makes all the reds, greens and blues really vivid; Lighter and Darker Skin tones; 'Colour Accent' that allows you to retain a single colour in your image whilst the other colours turn monochrome and even a 'Colour Swap' where you can select one colour and replace it with another colour you specify for special effects. Since they work with both still images and movies, these modes let you enjoy producing various image or movie effects.

The Great Canon A480
A480 is easy to use. Built-in face detection technology allows the camera to spot a face in the picture and alter focus and exposure settings with great results. I like the playback button, pressing this while the camera is off will switch it on and go straight into playback mode, where you can view your photos. Great camera and simple to use. Before this I had brought a Kodck C1013 which was such rubbish I returned it for refund which was no proble with Amazon .

cheap but very cheerful
Bought this a replacement for my previous Canon Powershot, which took several years and some kicking around to kill.

Unlike its aluminium predecessor this one looks cheap and nasty by comparison - black plastic, and AA batteries instead of rechargeable battery pack.

That's the downside dealt with. Double the pixels, much larger view screen, much more intuitive interface. Spend half an hour reading the manual (give it a try - it's worth it) and you'll see what you can get out of it by switching it to manual programming. For the money it's great even though it looks like a disposable. Oh yes, one more complaint: the old model had a viewfinder as well as a screen - very helpful, especially in bright conditions where you can't always see the screen well enough to frame your shot: one feature that would vastly improve this version.

Having said all that, this was a no-regrets purchase. I'm amazed they can do it for the money.

Canon Powershot A480 Digital Camera- Black
For the price the camera is very good for normal everyday snap shots in good conditions - where the light is failing it struggles and the picture tends to be a little noisy - switch the flash on and this give very adequate light and reproduces a well illuminated picture.
The controls are straight forward and easy to use either on auto or on manual .The colour reproduction is true and the image is sharp with the right amount of contract- very little manipulation is required after the picture has been taken in the computer. it will print straight from the camera.
Im happy with my powershot as it does what it says on the packet.
