Good noir book5
It would be criminal if the Criminal series of books by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips didn't get the the wider audience it deserves. Fans of noir crime books will love this series. Bold, bloody and brilliant.

Read it!5
I just recently discovered the work of Ed Brubaker, author of Criminal, and Bad Night is the third book I read. Let me just say that Brubaker lives up to the hype. Bad Night is a darn good read and every page transcends the medium. This is what comics were invented for. It's not like Watchmen but it's like Watchmen, if you catch my drift.
The art by Sean Phillips fits the story and dialogues. I like him better on Incognito, where his work is more flashy and streamlined, but it just fits the tone of Brubakers story so who am I to disagree. It's like Miller on the last books of Sin City. I've seen better but it still sucks me in till I don't care anymore.
It helps if you have read the other Criminal books. The twists hit even harder. But if you happen to stand in a store and spot Criminal:Bad Night just grab it, no matter if you have read the previous volumes or not. Just trust me. You'll be hooked.
