Highly Recommended
If you love and support the English folk scene, then this is the compilation album for you. I haven't stopped playing it since it first dropped through the letter box. All the featured performers and songs are brilliant. John Tams's 'Hugh Stenson And Mollie Green' is spine tingling and June Tabor's, piano backed, 'I Will Put My Ship In Order' is beautiful. The only track I found a bit disappointing is e2K and their self penned 'Saint George's Quay'...sounds like a cabaret song.
This c.d. is very good value for money and, as a result of this purchase,
I've added some of the featured performer's solo releases to my c.d. collection...also bought from 'Amazon'!
Broad Ranging interesting good selection
From Elizabethan crumhorn type stuff to more modern versions of old classics, a good borad ranging variety of tunes - lead me to look into other artists, cheap too
Music from the past
The collection is nice although I'm not sure about the choice of songs. I bought two folk CDs together, the other one is "That's proper folk" and I loved it so much that this one is a bit boring as a comparison.
