Customer Reviews
Great - but don't buy this on its own
The MotionPlus add-on expands the Wii by detecting rotational as well as straight-line motion - enabling new styles of gameplay. Games like Table Tennis and SwordPlay in Wii Sports Resort would not be possible without it. However, it makes no difference at all to games that were not specifically programmed to support it.
Therefore there's no reason to buy this on its own. I'd suggest getting Wii Sports Resort, which is brilliant and was programmed side-by-side with the development of the MotionPlus, and which comes bundled with a MotionPlus.
The main reason to buy one of these separately is for multi-player games on MotionPlus titles like Sports Resort. Simultaneous multi-player is impossible unless you have more than one MotionPlus.
Some of you don't get it.
First of all this only works with games designed for it. So it won't change the control of any old game. So far only three games use motion plus, Virtua tennis, Grand slam tennis and Tiger Woods. Forget virtua tennis, motion plus was a last minute addition, Grand slam tennis controls brilliantly, you swing the controller in the same way you would a tennis raquet allowing you to precisely place your shot and add topspin or slice, and it works very well, occasional errors are due to the player not making the correct motion. Tiger woods also has a superb control system though it probably is'nt as significant to the game as tennis. In short, if you are interest in the games i mention get motion plus, end of story.
A step forward in Wii technology, enough said
The title says it's a step. It's really more of a leap. This enhances the performance of the Wii remote making realistic tennis, sword-play and the like (perhaps one day boxing!) possible. How could you not want to own this? Not only is it a technological leap, but it's a well made, thoroughly considered leap made by a company renowned, with good reason, for its commitment to quality. Nothing short of a holo-deck will be perfect, but this increases the sensitivity of the remote making the Wii games of the future more convincing and realisitic. "Motion" was the whole point of buying a Wii in the first place, right?
Some reviewers have, amazingly, complained that Wii Motion Plus doesn't work with older games. How in blazes could it possibly work with older games, programmed for the older controls? For crying out loud. People with I.Q.s lower than broccoli shouldn't be reviewing products. This is a NEW control, designed for NEW and FORTHCOMING games.
The Wii is about play control, not graphics. This improves the former. Enough said.
