The King still rocks the mothers ;)5
January 1973 was a milestone in Elvis career: his concert in Hawaii was broadcasted throughout the world and was watched by a billion people.

Just a few weeks later it was time for a month long Vegas season, a one week tour and a two week season in Lake Tahoe. The show featured on this CD is the Mothersday concert during the Lake Tahoe season.

Elvis is in a really great mood. Lots of jokes, lots of laughter and a lot of fun. Besides the fun, Elvis is very focused on the songs. He really put great effort in songs like Steamroller Blues, the Rock'n Roll medley, You Gave Me a Mountain and May Way. This show really stands out as a great one. In fact, it's way better than The Aloha From Hawaii: almost the same setlist, but less tension and better performances.

The sound on this CD is outstanding. The drums, guitar and bass are nicely on the front, so it gives you a nice R&B feeling. Instruments used during the solos are also on the front. But during songs where you'll (need to) hear the background vocalists, you can almost hear the different voices. From bass to soprano, you can hear the all very clear. Very well balanced....

The artwork is eyecandy (like almost every FTD release). It's a nice digipack with excellent pictures from Elvis during that show.

My advice: buy this excellent show and listen to a still Rockin' Elvis

Tahoe Has Been Well And Truly Taken5
What can I say? Elvis in full flow. I have to agree with Albert that Elvis is more relaxed here than Aloha, but I suppose there's a few less people watching him this time ;-)

If you enjoy listening to Elvis concerts this is a must.

FTD have done it again with another great release.

FTD found a winner at Lake Tahoe!5
I think this show is outstanding like all the Lake Tahoe concerts Elvis did. Unfortunately the Tahoe concerts like this one were not at all well known and generally underrated. FTD has recently changed that with this beautiful soundboard release of the May 13, 1973 show... FTD did a fine job with the sound (although its in mono) it was well done to say the least, plus it has bonus tracks from the earlier show there that night! I would buy this concert as it is a stellar performance by the king.
