Elvis in rehearsal3
Taped at the RCA studios in Hollywood in March 1972 this new Follow That Dream release features a selection of Elvis Presley's rehearsals for his upcoming tour (which would also be covered by the "Elvis On Tour" rockumentary). Elvis with his stage band (minus bass player Jerry Scheff, unfortunately replaced here by Emory Gordy) and JD Sumner and the Stamps run through their standard live repertoire of that moment, adding a few of the recently recorded studio cuts ("Always On My Mind", "Separate Ways", "Help Me Make It Through The Night"). A spontaneous version of "Young and Beautiful" is the only rarity.

The absence of the orchestration used for the concerts gives mixed results. Some songs sound better, others just don't, while actually none on this release surpasses the master takes. Although Elvis seemed extremely focused in these rehearsals with very little fooling around and no audience to distract him, the quality of his voice is variable and he hardly ever sings full out. But, hey, these were only rehearsals anyway.

Sound quality and mix are excellent, yet the artwork is amateurish and the CD with 19 songs runs barely over a meagre 51 minutes.

It is what it say's on the tin !!5
This is a true rehersal, and Elvis is in fine form. true he doesnt go flat out, but that's because it is what it say's on the front "a rehersal".there are fine monents of inter-play between EP and members of the band e.g. the end of Burnin love when Elvis comments on the ending "you can't fade on stage" But most of all there is the voice comming through clear, strong and not over produced.a good cd. we just need the movie "on Tour" to be re-released !!!

Happy New Year!5
What a storming start to 2005 with Follow That Dream's latest release! This cd of highlights from the March 1972 On Tour studio rehearsals is simply outstanding both in content and sound quality. Elvis is in great voice and his band are rocking on top form from the off with the likes of Proud Mary, Polk Salad Annie, See See Rider, A big Hunk Of Love and Johnny B Goode! Then we are treated to a nice and rare version of Young And Beautiful where Elvis plays around a bit with the lyrics. Check out also Ronnie Tutt's drumming during The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face-very similar to the live versions of What Now My Love. There are 19 tracks in total also including a little of Marty Wilde's El Paso! Plus Burning Love, Lawdy Miss Clawdy, Separate Ways, Always On My Mind, Help Me Make It Through The Night, For The Good Times, Never Been To Spain, Funny How Time Slips Away, Release Me, Love Me, and, of course, Hound Dog! Some studio banter puts the icing on the cake. Elvis fans, buy this NOW! You won't regret it trust me.
