An Excellent Guide to Exploring Meditation5
This is a wonderful book for anybody thinking about embarking upon the practice of meditation but who wishes to avoid being overwhelmed by the unyielding demands or bewildering theology found in other books.

Initially, Madonna Gauding gently steers the reader through an overview of practice and theory, offering simple, practical and achievable suggestions along the way. As the introductory pages suggest ways of bringing a sacred or spiritual practice into your life, the approach is always moderate, open-minded and appealing. Throughout, the Meditation Bible remains sensitive to the disparate faiths and motivations that inspire people to seek to meditate.

The Directory section is a superb tool, offering the opportunity to explore and sample a wide range of different practices for different purposes. Amazon’s synopsis suggests that this “is a definitive handbook for those wishing to master meditation”. I believe that the purpose the author has in mind is a far more modest but important one: simply helping readers to establish and maintain a meditation practice with all the benefits that it brings. The impression that I got from reading this book is that one should initially seek to explore and cherish meditation, not master it.

Personally, I can claim that this book has provided the launch for my now daily meditation practice (something that I have aspired to do for many years now, but hitherto failed). There are not many books that I can claim to have found, even in a small way, truly ‘life-changing’, but this is one of them.

its ok...3
If you are looking for something that is incredably basic then this is for you, its good for quick fix solutions but nothing that is going to change your life. If you want something deeper with insight, something for the long term that will make a difference then look elsewhere.
