Sign language
My children love this book, pictures and colourful and the pictures show you how to sign. Easy for small children. Just after a week young children should know two or more signs.

Educational
I brought this book so I could continue to teach my 2 year old basic sign language as he was leaning it at nursery. Some of the instructions were easy to follow which in turn allowed me to demonstate to my son. I would say that if being read by say an older child ( as my 5 year old sister tried too) they may not be able to follow some of the pictures as easily and would probly need an adult with them to show them the correct way.

Signing for Toddlers
I believe it is important to teach toddlers how to sign when they are still trying to learn to talk. This helps to ward off frustrations in communication for them as well as for their carers! All of this set of Sign About books is well done.
