Product Description
With increasing pressure on organisations to protect and control client data, greater measures are needed to tackle the areas of concern and lax security, one of which is portable data products. Hypertec have responded to these concerns with the release of the DataSafe USB flash drives, offering government standard 256bit AES hardware encryption. The DataSafe Slim contains a private Ê data section which is encrypted and accessible via a failsafe password, and a public unencrypted area. The relative proportions of the public/private sections are entirely user definable. The combination of encryption and password make this a very secure method of carrying data: even if the device were opened and the flash chips removed, the data held therein would still be inaccessible. The Hyperdrive DataSafe Slim is available in a slimline silver case. Also available is the DataSafe Rugged, available in a shock proof, water resistant, rubberised capsule-style casing.

Customer Reviews
Excellent value encrypted storage
The Hypertec drive is about half the price of most other hardware encrypting drives, and there is not much in the way of supporting design documentation for it to verify the security features. However it works well and is simple to use.
The password length is limited to 16 characters which is annoying, as many prefer to use long pass phrases to get full benefit of the AES key length, however this is more of a techie security complaint than an issue for ordinary users.
If you need higher confidence I suggest one of the FIPS140-2 devices such as the IronKey or DataTraveller Black Box, both of which are over twice the price for the same capacity. For home/personal use the Hypertec is a reasonable alternative and much more secure than leaving your data unencrypted.
