Product Description

Using an exercise ball for strength and fitness may be a relatively new concept, but it is not just another fitness fad. The ball has been used extensively in rehabilitation and physiotherapy for more than 30 years. It is now popular in gyms, for personal training and for home programmes. Sporting clubs and trainers recognize its value for injury prevention, sport-specific taining and improved athletic performance. Basic exercise ball principles, combined with strength conditioning, provide a good workout, arguably better than other more expensive, cumbersome or complicated routines and equipment. This book is a comprehensive guide to working out with an exercise ball. It provides effective exercise techniques for strength training, back health and injury prevention. This book is for those seeking muscle tone and definition but who also want a stronger, healthier, injury-free body. With easy to follow instructions and clear photographs demonstrating how to carry out the exercises, this book provides everything you need to know about getting the most out of your exercise ball.

Fantastic book-but...5
Fantastic book that takes 'ball work' beyond the trim & tone image this sort of exercise tends to have. This book will also be as useful for serious bodybuilders wanting to improve core stability, as the more 'girly' end of the market as suggested by the front cover.

CAUTION: This is the UK edition of Lias Westlake's US title "Get On the Ball" (ISBN: 1 569 244 936). The ONLY difference is the cover- the inside is IDENTICAL!!! (I liked the "Get On the Ball", looked for other titles by Lisa Westlake & found this one. Only when it arrived did it become apparent that this is the identical book!!)

What an excellent book!5
I would recommend this book, particularly to beginners on an exercise ball. It has clear pictures and excellent text. It explains your starting position (which is not often clear in other books) then explains the actions you should perform. It also show how you can make the exercise harder or easier!
Well worth the money!!

Fantastic, fun and focused4
I bought the ball and this book the same day, reading through the intro chapters first I was itching to inflate and use my ball. The book is small enough to have with you if using the ball in the gym. Each exercise is clearly and concisely explained; great layout with photos of unintimidating people demonstrating correct form. Being someone who finds it hard to set realistic fitness goals and keep tabs on my progress, the chart on pg. 21 proved particularly useful as a starting point and as a guide to increasing the challenge, without being rigid with timescales. Thanks Lisa.
