A MUST READ FOR ALL TEENAGERS!5
Wonderfully original. A beautiful book about non-conformity, peer pressure, bravery and being true to yourself. My only complaint is the choice of cover which suggests a 'girly book' but is in fact a boys narrative. This may limit the readership of this excellent story. This book should be made compulsory reading for all teenagers.

Sweet4
I can't really think of a word other than 'sweet' to describe this book. The story delves into the age old question: be unique & happy with yourself, or conform & make everyone else happy. It takes a real look behind the be-yourself-and-people-will-like-you fairytale and shows how relationships really fare in such circumstances. Although her indivdual and somewhat bizarre quirks he likes- it's clear his peers don't feel that same which puts him under pressure to choose. It's not hard to guess which way he turns, but how he gets there and how he dissects his decision afterwards are really interesting. It is a fairly easy read so is aimed at the younger end of teens; but me being a few years past that still really enjoyed and identified with the book. A book all should try to read even if not own.

Great then, not so much now4
It's true that when i read this at about age 11, i LOVED this book and definatley put it in my top 5. It's unique oddness is not its only asset. I found it completley weird and different to anything else i had read but thats what attracted me to it most. You must read this book before you get to late teenage years because im not sure if its just me but i find it a bit under-whelming now. its an unusual and compelling story about a boy who falls head over heels for the strangest girl ever, and struggles when he tries not to care what anyone thinks. A definate must read for young teenagers (in my opinion)
