Synopsis
Golding's best-known novel is the story of a group of boys who, after a plane crash, set up a fragile community on a previously uninhabited island. As memories of home recede and the blood from frenzied pig-hunts arouses them, the boys' childish fear turns into something deeper and more primitive.

Dreadful
the book is one of the most boring books i have ever read
it begins to get interesting from chapter 8 onwards but it seems golding tired of the book and finished it off rather quickly in the end the end is a complete let down
i wud not advise this book to anybody unless they wish to suffer or become slightly depressed!
One of the best books i have ever read
When my english teacher retreived a pile of dusty old books with boring covers from the store cupboard, i thought this book would just be another boring classic.
I was very wrong. Lord of the flies is one of the best books i have ever read. And i mean that.
The plot is simple - a group of boys (the oldest about 13) are stranded on an island when their plane crashes. The novel is about how they live and survive on the island.
However, the themes that run throughtout the book are thrilling and interesting. Every single word in the book is symbolic, and you have to learn to read between the lines. Every character symbolises something - Ralph, Piggy, Jack etc. I will not give it away as you have to work them out for yourslef.
Its a real page turner, and some exciting points. Two events are extremely shocking and will leave you thinking about the book for weeks.
The ending seems like a happy one, or is it? What about consequences of it all, the mark it will have left on the boys, and what about the war going on in the adult world.....?
Disturbing but powerful!
I couldn't get into this book for months which is strange for me as I am a bookworm but when into it I realised that it is powerfully disturbing. What intersted me most was the characters development and their relationship as they struggle for survival. Girls don't be put off by the fact that it is a story about boys.
