Amazon.co.uk Review
The Pulp Anthology collection really does have it all, from videos to live performances to surreal home movies. Forget EastEnders, as pioneers of working class chic the early Pulp videos epitomise Shoreditch living, from cramped rooms to charity shop glam; while the later videos, with bigger budgets, add to Pulp's classic kitsch values. The most inspired of the 15 on offer here has to be "The Bad Cover Version", which appears to assemble the cast of Stars in their Eyes.
Beyond the videos and live performances are selections of home movies. Included are the documentaries "Do You Remember the First Time", focusing on losing your virginity, and "This is Hardcore" which, unsurprisingly, centres on the merits of porn and freedom. "TV Madness" is a beautiful montage of crazy TV promotions that shows the price of fame is appearing on Going Live. "Home Movies" offers a look at the real lives of Pulp; "Sheffield Bands" offers a glimpse at Pulp before they were famous while "Catfield" is possibly be the most bizarre children's programme on the planet. Using inspired editing techniques and sceneography, it's clear this all comes from the minds of Jarvis and co, a band who simply refuse to conform to normal stereotypes, instead making up their own rules as they go along. This is one for anyone who's been young, misunderstood and dabbled in the art scene.
On the DVD: Pulp: Anthology offers pristine sound and visuals, perfect for the lurid nature of Pulp, while the menu can only have been inspired by a misspent youth watching Tony Hart. --Nikki Disney

Customer Reviews
Almost all of Pulp's video.
I'm an American and I bought this dvd through amazon.co.uk and received it within the estimated arrival date. (Just wanted to add that because it was something I was worried about when purchasing. The exchange rate however...). I love watching Pulp's videos. I'm sad that "Like a Friend" is missing. The menu screen is a little confusing but figuring it out is half the fun.
For all the Common People
This is a great DVD release. Showcasing all of Pulp's promotional videos from their time on Island Records (lets face it, there wasn't much before that anyway!). From all the way back to 1991's original video for "Babies" through to their final single "Bad Cover Version", all are present and correct, with very short snippets of other footage in between each. Everyone has their own favourites but mine would be "Help The Aged" for it's tongue in cheek inventiveness. But the promos are not all this DVD has in store.
You get three short films. A spoken word version of the video for "Babies", the description speaks for itself on this one. Then two documentaries; "Do You Remember The First Time?" asks various celebrities and band members about losing their virginities, with some very candid contributions. Also there is the "This Is Hardcore" documentary, asking people starring in the video for the song with the same title various questions on subjects ranging from porn to freedom. Both of these documentaries are well shot and edited, and should probably be shown on television at some point in the future.
You get five live concert tracks. One from each Island album and one from the Gift Recording of "Babies". These are entertaining and show what sort of following Pulp had at the time.
There are also a few home movies of the band in the studio and on tour. A short video filmed in the mid-eighties about Sheffield bands. "Catcliffe" shows the band messing about with porcelain figurines.
"TV Madness" is a montage of clips either starring Pulp or about Pulp, that have been captured on tape over the band's lifetime. If you have read Mark Sturdy's book on Pulp then this is probably the most amusing section of the DVD, as you can see some of his anecdotes come to life.
Every true Pulp fan should own this collection, as should anybody with an interest in Great British music. I will keep coming back to this DVD time and time again, as I can never see myself becoming bored with it.
Jarvis Is Back! He Never Went Away!
If you are a fan of Pulp like me you will buy this disc regardless, all of their videos are awesome and there is some great early footage on this disc, according to "A Viewer from the UK" it features side splittingly comical TOTP footage, well in actual fact it doesn't and I'm sure Jarvis would have put it in there if there was any! Also he mentions the look being 90's in the extreme, most likely because the videos were made in the 90's! A bit like he mentioned The Smiths DVD being 80's in the extreme and also having side splittingly comical TOTP footage too! very original! If "lacking in toys" as he put it means extras then he is wrong as there are more than enough extras on this disc, a superb product from beginning to end. Pulp are no more but have left behind something special, BUY!
