DVD Description
This comprehensive box set features single disc versions of the following films:
Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone (2001)
Harry Potter learns on his 11th birthday that he is the orphaned son of a powerful witch and wizard and possesses magical powers of his own. At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry embarks on the adventure of a lifetime, discovering a world of magic and fantasy where he is destined to live.
Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (2002)
Cars fly, trees fight back and a mysterious elf comes to warn Harry Potter at the start of the second year of his amazing journey into the world of wizardry. This year is a year of adventure and dange! Harry, Ron and Hermione must use all their magical abilities and courage to save Hogwarts!
Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban (2004)
It's Harry's third year at Hogwarts, but all is not well with the escaped prisoner, Siruis Black, on the loose! Harry and his friends spend their third year learning how to handle Divination. They also visit the wizarding village of Hogsmeade and the Shrieking Shack, which is considered the most haunted building in Britain. In addition to these new experiences, Harry must overcome the Dementors, outsmart a dangerous werewolf and deal with the truth about Sirius Black.
Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire (2005)
Beset by nightmares that leave his scar hurting more than usual, Harry is all too happy to escape his disturbing dreams by attending the Quidditch World Cup with Ron and Hermione. But something sinister ignites the skies at the Quidditch campsite; the Dark Mark, the sign of the evil Lord Voldemort. Harry longs to get back inside the safe walls of Hogwarts. But things are going to be a little different this year. Dumbledore announces that Hogwarts will host the Triwizard Tournament, one of the most exciting and dangerous of the wizarding community's magical competitions. One champion will be selected from each of the three largest and most prestigious wizarding schools to compete in a series of life-threatening tasks in pursuit of winning the coveted Triwizard Cup...
Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix(2007)
Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community has been denied the truth about his recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort. Fearing that Hogwarts' venerable Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemort's return in order to undermine his power and take his job, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch over Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students. But Professor Dolores Umbridge's Ministry-approved course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them and the entire wizarding community, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry takes matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore's Army," Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.
Synopsis
HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE charts the young wizard's induction at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; in HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS Harry is in his second year at the school, and already battling the dark forces that threaten to destroy Hogwarts; the adventure continues with HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN, where Harry and his friends must defeat a dangerous convict who has escaped from Azkaban Prison and is said to be headed towards Hogwarts. The fourth instalment of the franchise, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE, is decidedly darker in tone, with Harry facing a plot to assassinate him during the Tri Wizard festival. In HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, our hero experiences a bout of teenage angst while defending Hogwarts from a strange prophecy...

Carry on regardless
All of the movies released so far are excellent. I see that other reviewers have covered the story line very well, so I will not. Just let me say that all are very well done, with minor imperfections. The main problems are only two. The first problem is that the books are so massive that pieces have to be left out, this is a shame but I do think that to make a 4 hour movie of these books would make them very tiring to sit through. I had thought of maybe making a part 1 and then 2 but this would not help. This boxed set is the single dvd version of each story, I would prefer the 2 disk versions personally. I have the separately released versions of each movie and am very satisfied with all. The second problem is the acting of the three principals. In my opinion Rupert Grint is the only actor who plays his part very well indeed, (his facial expressions are wonderful) and can hold his own against the adult actors. The "bit" parts are so well portrayed that they show up the principles. Emma Thompson overplays badly, and Daniel Radcliffe is awful. Reading through the books to get an idea of Harry Potter's character does not help. It seems that Radcliffe just cannot manage to get into the part. His earlier performance in the first movie was his best, from there on, downhill. I think he should go to acting school asap. Nevertheless I am looking forward to the next installments.
Oh Dear
Firstly, let me say that I love the books and the films, so why the low rating I hear you ask.. well, it's because there are so many scenes cut that in a lot of cases the movies lose so much of the plot as to be unwatchable. I'm waiting for the extended box set, then maybe we'll see the actual film.
EXCELLENT
I think this item is excellent value for money and the postage and value is very good.
