Good package - shame about the bugs
I have been using this latest version for a few days, downloaded from the Adobe site rather than Amazon. The advantage being that it will be the very latest version.
The application works well in the basics of editing and I have had better success with this in editing Panasonic AVCHD files, than any other package.
There are however some fairly serious bugs in relation to both the much heralded Auto-analyser and Keyword Tags.
On my 2.6ghz dual processor 4gb memory Vista PC it is taking around 9 hours to analyze 1gb of video.
Analysis runs as a background task whether the main application is running or not and consumes around 50% of my processors, (enough to make the fans run continously, and impact normal activitity).
Auto analysis can be disabled and I would recommend this, awaiting a fix. I've also taken it out of my start-up schedule.
It's hard to believe that Adobe shipped it like this...at a minimum, they should have disabled analysis on video. But it's also hard to believe that the new Keyword Tags text box has a memory leak that allegedly crashes the program after 40 uses.
Adobe don't have a particularly good record in fixing bugs in PSE so I would recommend a trawl around the forums for workarounds and news of any fixes.
The video editing is good, facilities excellent and rendering surprisingly quick on HD files.
Loads of good content and a good interface.

A lot more work needed
I recently installed Windows 7 and wanted to use video editing software. I had always used Adobe Premiere products and decided to purchase Premiere and Photoshop Elements 8 package. My machine has specifications way beyond what is necessary to run this software so I really thought I would have no issues.
How wrong I was - PE8 is the worst software it has ever been my misfortune to purchase. Whenever I tried to capture video from my DV camcorder the program crashes either immediately or after a max of 14 minutes. This has caused numerous crash reports to be sent to Adobe. I have spent ages browsing the internet for solutions and while I have found numerous problems, no solutions. Many indicate that the cause is to do with nVidia graphics card.
I feel I have wasted my money on PE8 and am in the process of trying to use PE 3.02.
I would never recommend PE 8 to anyone
Great software. The bugs are annoying
Adobe Premiere Elements is brilliant it's instant movie feature works well and you can even put things in slow motion. There is even a piece which allows you to freeze a frame and either save it as a photo or insert it in the film. All the different effects work well and I like the way you can edit different effects to your needs. There is the big problem with the bugs, as said in previous reviews if you scroll to quickly it freezes and then crashes. You have no option but to keep saving it every minute. This is quite annoying as it isn't a very cheap program. I hope Adobe will be able to fix these problems.
