Long Live MST3K
Mystery Science Theater should be viewed by every fan of Sci-fi, B-movies and Horror, so long as you have a sense of humour. It may take one or two episodes to get into, but once it grabs you, you'll never escape.
The premise is simple, a man is shot into space and is forced to watch the worst movies ever made. We share his pain, and movies are shown in almost-full-length. To keep himself sane Joel (Or mike, depending on the season) are joined by two wise-cracking robot friends.
ON THIS DVD
---------------------------
Santa Claus Conquers Martians:
Go figure, aliens come to earth to bring Christmas to their own planet. A camp, goofy and nonsensical. Joel and the bots rip into this one.
"Manos" the Hands of Fate:
This Notorious B-movie romp through hell and back pits Mr. Joe Average against a MENACING, ALL POWERFUL... incompetent cult fronted by a wonky-kneed freak called Torgo. And the rest as they say, is history.
Simply one of the best TV shows ever produced. Long live MST3K.
FIVE STARS!!!! as per usual
Every episode of Mst3k was a five star affair, even the lesser ones had more humour than an entire run of any comedy show season.BUT!!! the only thing that lets this set down(and it is quite a large PAIN) is that as good as both films are(or bad depending on how you look at it)why did they put an episode already available on a single disc on the set with SANTA CLAUS? I.E. I buy Manos Hand Of Fate, then if I want to see Santa claus I have to buy it as part of a set with MANOS HAND OF FATE! you see where im going with this? I know they have problems with rights issues when it comes to releasing these films again on DVD,but personally I think they should have held off to give us something we didnt already have.Big problem then but MST3k still RULES.
Filmed in a vacant lot
Near-consistently and tragically listed as one of the worst films ever made, "Manos" was recently the subject of an entire documentary - however the sorry tale could best be summed up by a riff in the Misty version, "every scene in this film looks like someones last known photo".
Undoubtedly one of the best ever MST3Ks, as is Santa Claus; there's another different (not officially released) Santa Claus movie episode, which is just as funny. Especially the start, with the songs by the children of different nations.
