Synopsis
The madcap antics of Count Duckula have found an approving audience among both children and adults. This release contains the entire first season of the show, with the Count and his friends providing animated entertainment in 26 episodes. Revived after receiving a near-fatal stake in his heart, Count Duckula awakes to a brand new existence when he realizes his butler and maid have carried out a transfusion with ketchup instead of blood! Putting his devious past behind him, the ketchup-fueled Count becomes a vegetarian, and sets off on a series of adventures across the globe--a wonderfully inventive premise for a show. The subsequent episodes more than live up to expectations as the Count and his cohorts head off in search of fame and fortune--with humorous results.

AMAZING
Amazing, a complete flash back to my child hood. I loved this when I was a child and I love it more now. I think this would still be popular now. They don't make cartoons like this anymore.
Cartoon Perfection!
Count Duckula takes me straight back to my childhood. Getting home from school, sitting down with some orange squash and maybe, just maybe a few choccy biscuits! Settle in and watch CITV for abit of Count Duckula action - SUPERB.
Having had a VHS video of Count Duckula I really, really, really hoped they would commission a DVD(s) and we can thank the Good Lord, they finally did. This cartoon is perfection in its purist form. They simply can't or won't make another one as good as this one. You know your in for a treat when the lead character is being voiced by the master himself, David Jason (Danger Mouse and Wind In The Willows).
The humour hasn't been lost in the many years since I last saw it as a kid, laughing out loud and smiling all the way through every episode. You somehow appreciate it that little bit more when you watch it as an adult. If you have kids (probably ages 7+) then please buy this as a birthday or xmas prezzy. They may look at you and think " oh dear, what have they gone and purchased here"? But trust me, they'll adore it (I realise I'm asking you to trust someone you dont even know - but hey, it works for Doctor's around the world). The only trouble is they'll want to watch it over and over and over again, but you wont mind because you will too!
Writing this review leaves me slightly troubled with two questions:
1. Why cant all cartoons be as good/funny as this??
2. Will CITV consider re-running the originals??
A complete must buy......oh, and the 2nd season is out on 26th March 2007!
At last the DVD is here
Castle Duckula home for many centuries to a dreadfull dynasty of vicious vampire ducks. The Counts of Duckula....
Ok so remembering what was said at the start of every episode since it was last on ITV is a bit sad, but at least it is far better than what passes for children's cartoons today. Watching this again as an adult I still find it as funny as I did whilst at school. Young or old you can't help but laugh at the escapades of the 'vegitarian vampire duck' along with his butler (Egor) and his brainless Nanny.
