Synopsis
Inspired by the success of Fox's teen soap THE O.C., the producers at MTV came up with this reality series about the real-life residents of Orange County, California. Like the characters in THE O.C., the teens of LAGUNA BEACH, THE REAL ORANGE COUNTY drive fancy cars and spend a great deal of their time shopping for expensive clothes. They also fret about their love lives, or lack thereof, while sunning by pools and cruising the California strip. The drama of LAGUNA BEACH is not as narrative as that of THE O.C., but there is plenty of it, from catfights to boy drama to who's going with whom to the prom. While the half-hour series follows the lives of six different teenagers in their last year before leaving Laguna for college, viewers will find a semi-protagonist in Lauren. An aspiring fashion designer, Lauren agonizes over her relationship with Stephen, who constantly switches his attention between Lauren, and her ultimate nemesis, a junior named Kristin. While the two girls supposedly can't stand each other, shared social circles bring them together time and time again, causing loyalties to be tested, and drama to reach a breaking point.

buy it for the nice shops,beautiful scenery and lovely houses
I bought this dvd set because I thought it would show nice houses,beaches,beautiful women and so on.I wasn't disappointed.However listening to these high school kids conversing reminds you of just how boring,shallow and generally unpleasant young people can be - particularly young people involved in relationships and love triangles. The bonus features are good and there are lots of interviews and some decent music videos too.My favourite bonus feature is Lauren's giuded tour to her parents' house - the kind of place on top of a hill overlooking the blue pacific ocean that the rest of us can only dream of living in.If you're struggling to pay your mortgage in the gloomy uk you might want to give these rich people a miss.

Loving the LB
After the OC finished I had nothing to watch, but the real OC began and now I prefer this programme to The OC! It's more interesting because it's reality, although some of the drama is evidently playing up to the cameras it's not all completely fake. Plus, the drama is what holds the entertainment value! This definitely makes you jealous of the lives they have over there - the houses, the cars, the beach! But it's nice to look at :) and dream! If you like the OC this is a must see. It's become my favourite programme. It's a real easy programme to watch, I could sit and consume it and all its drama all day!

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Laguna Beach is so highly addictive, The drama is excellent, The romance is so sweet and the bitching is fantastic. I highly recommend watching this show!!!
