Synopsis
Jackie Chan is back in action with THE MEDALLION, yet another fast-paced martial arts action-comedy. Chan plays Eddie Yang, a Hong Kong cop who is working with Interpol officer Arthur Watson (Lee Evans) in order to protect a gifted young child. Aware that the child holds a centuries-old medallion that could give him limitless powers, Snakehead (Julian Sands) and his band of criminals kidnap the child and head for Dublin. It isn't long before Eddie arrives in Ireland where he is teamed up with beautiful Interpol officer Nicole James (Claire Forlani), who also happens to be a former flame. Together Eddie, Nicole, and the bumbling Watson manage to track down the child, but after an accident in which Eddie appears to have died, it's up to the gifted boy to put the trusty medallion to work and resuscitate him.
While Chan appears to have lost a bit of a bounce from his early days, he still pulls off moves that would leave most actors flatfooted. This time around, director Gordon Chan uses special effects alongside superstar choreographer Sammo Hung's action sequences, giving the audience a double dose of adrenaline. As is the case with most Chan films, hilarious outtakes and bloopers accompany the film's closing credits.

Lee and Jackie / Jackie and Lee
this is a great sunday afternoon film with some laugh out loud moments. Jackie Chan is brilliant as usual throwing himself around and being thrown about by the bad guys. in addition Lee Evans stands alongside him well in his own right.
whilst the film does smack a little of The Golden Child it is different enough to be worth purchasing
an unusual mix
Eddie Yang(Jackie Chan), Watson(Lee Evans) and Nichole(Claire Forlani) set out to try and rescue a boy, who has been guarded all his life in a small temple, from Snakehead(Julian Sands) who wants the medallions powers. Things go terribly wrong and Eddie ends up dying. The boy brings him back to life using the medallion which has special powers. Eddie is then able to do things at super speed and with super strength, he is also unable to die when Watson tries to stab him to death in an attempt to prove that he has indeed got special powers.
Snakehead manages to kidknap the boy again and uses him to make him immortal like Eddie. A fight then follows between the two immortals, complete with a lot of special effects.
I have to say that Lee Evans is always an unusual choice of action for a film but he is perfect for the spoof role that he is playing.
This definately is a spoof film with a mythical feel to it.
Very funny if you enjoy Lee's typical level of humour, if not perhaps this is one to give a miss.
Jackie is superb as ever with various fight scenes and chases. Not his best film ever but certainly good viewing.
