Product Description

Mystery Moor isn't called by that name for nothing - as the Five are about to discover! There's something dangerous out there, and the gang mean to find out what it is, but they need some help. The travellers camped on the moor are no use - in fact, they're downright unfriendly. So the Famous Five have no other choice: they'll have to risk the treacherous mists and follow the trail . . . But do they know what they've let themselves in for?

Famous five!!!4
This book is the tale of when the Five get separated into boys and girls. George and Anne have to go to a Riding School while the boys are at home. The boys come to meet the girls at the Riding School and they stay there. While they are at the riding school, the five meet Henry (short for Henrietta) who is a very enthusiastic and skilled rider. George gets jealous of Henry and they become enemies calling each other by their first names which they totally despise. I like the bit when they find the crashed steam engine and they search for the track. The rating I would give this book is 8/10.

Misty Moor.5
Start out with horses and you have yet another Famous Five success story. Add to that ancient legends, abandoned railway engines, planes dropping packages, and gypsies. Envelop the lot in swirling mist and you have a cracker.
If you read an early edition, you can see why Ms Blyton has been called racist. Her view of the gypsies was derogatory but I daresay more recent editions have been edited. However, I can honestly say that her views did not colour me as a child and I accepted them for what they were, extemely entertaining books. Looking back on them now, there was a lot sexist and racist ideas and snobbery within, but in those days people did not know any different. I am just glad that we are now aware of such things.
Encourage children to read the newer editions and leave the old editions for collectors.
