About the Author
Enid Blyton is one of the most-loved authors in children's publishing. With over 700 titles published, Enid Blyton's stories remain timeless classics, adored throughout the world. As a young woman Enid was faced with many choices: her father had planned a career in music for her, while she felt drawn to writing. In the end, she became a teacher. In 1922, a collection of poems by Enid was published, it was her first step towards her dream of becoming an author. Aged 27, Enid married Hugh Pollock and moved to London. Enid had two children with Hugh, and soon after wrote her first novel, The Adventures of the Wishing-Chair. Enid divorced Hugh after almost 20 years of marriage, and married Kenneth Waters in 1943. Throughout the 40s and 50s, Enid wrote books at a colossal pace: adventure stories, mysteries, magical stories, farming stories, stories for younger children, best-selling series like The Famous Five and Noddy. Enid fell ill with Alzheimer's disease and she died in 1963. Her spirit lives on in her books and she is remembered as one of the most-loved and celebrated children's authors.

enchantingly real...5
I thought you could never get better than the faraway tree, but with the wishing chair you can actually feel the wind rushing through your hair as you pass over the various different lands, sometimes you can actually see the shed at the bottom of the garden with chinky the pixie sat in the old chair polishing the little wings. this book is everything you wished would happen to you and more.......

"And we'll have fun fun fun until a wizard takes our armchair awaaaaay" 5
Having recently introduced my children to the works of the late great Ms Blyton, we continued reading about the adventures of Peter and Mollie and their Pixie friend Chinky with this follow-up to the first collection of Wishing Chair stories. The story centres on the eponymous flying chair, as it takes its two children on numerous adventures that feature goblins, brownies, fairies, magical lands, witches, talking animals and a host of other fantastical creatures and situations.
I found myself remembering the stories vividly as I read them to my children; they really are timeless (excuse the cliché) and despite it being easy to laugh at some of the children's' expressions and the more innocent 1950s style, it remains a well-crafted piece of escapism - surely something we all need in these troubled times.

another great book!5

This book is full of fun as the adventures continue, my children loved the whole collection of wishing chair stories, as we flew away to all the lands with Chinky, Mollie and Peter!
