Claudine seems to embody what everyone seems to hate but is somehow the most popular girl in the class. Carlotta slaps Angela (doesn't pinch her in the original). Different from my 1955 version.

My favourite St Clares book. I love the bit with Mamzelle on the war path. Jane Teal is a drip, Pat is upset at having to miss games and Alison misses the chance to turn into Sappho in poetry class.

Abysmal, I can't stand Pat & Isabel so hearing the modern sounding mush written about them and how the girls turned to look at them in awe made this book even worse than it is. Appallingly bad.
