From the Inside Flap
Reading the Horse's Mind This is a book for horse owners and riders of all abilities and competitive interests who want to achieve the best from their horses through an understanding of how the equine mind works. Lifelong horsewoman Jackie Budd shows us how to see life through the horse's eyes and how to use his natural instincts to advantage rather than as sources of conflict. For those who ride primarily for pleasure she gives invaluable advice on how to handle and care for a horse and how to ride with sensitivity in order to foster a rewarding relationship built on mutual trust. She pays special attention to the training of the young horse, which is fundamental to success in any sport. Budd supplements her own extensive knowledge of the horse with remarkable insights garnered from interviews with some of the most famous people on the international circuit today. The riders, trainers, and instructors in the book include:
- Linda Tellington–Jones
- Monty Roberts
- Susan Hutchison
- Kathleen Raine
- Karen O'Connor
- Sylvia Loch
- Marcy Pavord
- David Broome

Customer Reviews
Excellent !!!
I am studying for a degree in equine behavioural science & evolution and have found this book to be invaluable.
It is easy to read and gives easy to understand explanations on so many aspects of horse behaviour. Anything I need to check I go to this book first.
Great alongside study, or for anyone who wants to know more about understanding and working with their horse.
