Product Description

"Grow Your Own Pharmacy" was borne of a passion for a way of life. Millions of vitamin and mineral supplements are sold every day across the globe. Many get left in the back of the cupboard, some are unsuitable and/or sub-standard, and very few are needed! The human species has evolved this far without cupboards full of pills and potions, but with the environment in which he or she lives. Our environment has everything we need to produce the vitamins and minerals for healthy bodies, minds and souls. A little exercise is required to put this theory into action. But physical exercise is part of the human make-up and we need to move everyday, to keep joints supple, muscles strong, and ultimately stress-free. "Grow Your Own Pharmacy" guides the reader through the overwhelming mountain of health information available and sorts it out into practical everyday use. Everyone who wants to be healthy owes it to him or herself to put away those supplements and get down to what real healthy eating is all about. The book lists recommended daily vitamins but doesn't rest there. Each separate vitamin or mineral has it's own checklist to show at a glance what foods are required to fulfill the daily need. These foods in turn are each given a whole chapter on how to grow them, and use them. And those without a garden won't miss out - where there's a will there's a way!

Editorial Reviews

From the Author
I wrote this book to combine all the information I found myself looking for, into one compact book. For years, I was checking one book for what to grow, another for how to grow it, another for recipes. Then I decided it would be much easier if I had all the information in one place and have to admit to using my own copy for reference almost every day!

About the Author
Linda Gray was born and brought up in London UK. However her heart has always been firmly locked into nature and the environment. After talking her way into a banking job she wasn't qualified to do, she learned everything she could and then moved on to motherhood... When the opportunity arose, Linda dragged her four children out of school, tied them to the back of a van and traveled across the English and French countryside. Finding a ruined cottage and an uncared-for acre of land proved to be an exciting challenge. With no running water, no electricity and not an English-speaking person for miles around, the learning curve was equal to the most spectacular rainbow imaginable - creating a pot of knowledge to be shared with everyone. Developing the land into a workable and beautifully landscaped garden enabled Linda to provide her family with daily organic fruit and vegetables, with herbs to excite the taste buds and promote healthy living. Antibiotics never had a place in this perfect environment. Landscape designing encouraged her design skills and she has produced a number of children's board games, novelty ideas for children's books, and a large collection of knitted items, including a teenage doll that has caused a flutter of interest in various TV departments across the UK and in the US. Further down the line, and with the introduction of electricity, Linda discovered that she had the ability to string a saleable sentence together and went on to sell a number of family-based articles to magazines worldwide. The presence of the computer in a wooden house in the middle of a small forest proved inspirational, and Linda grew to love the Internet with a passion. She now manages a gardening website, a work-from-home website and fits all this around grandchildren and her need to write - sharing her knowledge and experience to, hopefully, make a difference in the world one day...
