Erasure - Remixed, Re-recorded, and Onstage4
1987's "Two Ring Circus" is essentially three Erasure EPs on one CD: we have a selection of remixes, a handful of orchestral re-recordings, and the final third is a set of live tunes. On all counts, the disc succeeds. The better remixes include a smoothed-out reworking of "Sometimes," Dave Powell's remix of "The Circus," and Little Louie Vega's version of "Victim of Love." The orchestral tracks are re-recordings set to a lush string arrangement; the best of these are "If I Could" and "Spiraling," which bring out the best in Andy Bell's expressive voice. In many respects, I prefer these versions over the original album tracks. Of the live selections, the absolute treat is the duo's cover of ABBA's "Gimme Gimme Gimme" which almost outshines the original by the Swedish group. This "circus" is one of the greatest shows on earth.

Erasure at there best5
Being a big fan of erasure it is hard to be critical, which in all honesty i have been with later albums. Looking back at this album it was as i see it Erasure at there best and set the foundations of there career. I have just replaced my original copy of this album as it is about 15 years old but playing it again recently reminded me of just how good they are.
This was there second album after having only minor success with there first album but had 16 tracks an increase on The Circus including live versions of Spiralling and Victim of love amongst others. It also included there first Abba cover of Gimme, Gimme, Gimme which was always performed with such energy on stage. If you like Erasure this is a must buy. Finally i would like to mention that having recently seen them in concert at Folkestone they have not lost there sparkle and Andy Bell still holds a bold if not unique presence on the stage.
