The Rough Guide to Greek
This handy pocket-sized and very cheap, phrase book and dictionary proved to be an invaluable companion on my recent holiday to Rhodes.
The first section is English-Greek and the final section is Greek-English.
All of the Greek translations are written phonetiaclly (ie written as you would pronounce them) so you don't have to be a Greek alphabet expert !
The translations are also written in Greek, so that the reader can point to words and native Greek-speakers will understand!
The book also contains some useful phrases, the alphabet, days of the week, months and the time.
Excellent value for money and more than enough vocabulary for the traveller.
very helpful
easy to follow guide & very helpful. I live in Greece and couldn't speak any Greek at all when I first came here, then I bought this book, and the amount of word's I learnt from it was amazing, I found it very helpful, and of course the fact that I Live here also is good as everytime I heard the same word alot I would look it up in my book to see what it meant (most times it was swear words, but you still learn !!) A good starter or travellers book.

Very compact and a lifesaver at times!
Especially when visiting the smaller, more isolated settlements throughout Greece and it's Islands it helps to know a bit of the 'local lingo'! And this book is full of everyday phrases and commonly used words. Buy it and take it with you whenever you go 'exploring' - besides, the locals really appreciate you at least trying and will help you out as much as they can.
