Throughout the 1990s, Deric Longden has shared his life with Aileen Armitage and four cats: Thermal, Tigger, Frink and shabby old Arthur. And the cats have found that sharing a life with Aileen can be a very painful business. She hardly ever trips over them these days, but they are always in danger of being mistaken for a cardigan, or inadvertently locked away in the cellar. Ever since Thermal came in from the cold to enter his life, Deric has seen his world increasingly taken over by cats. What with planning their menus, entertaining their friends, listening to their worries and observing their adventures, he has little time left over for his professional life as a writer. But there are rich rewards. One way or another, the cats that Deric and Aileen share their lives with are an endless source of interest and laughter. Few writers have found so much enjoyment in the company of cats, and none has written better about their charm, and the fascinating range of their personalities. "Enough to make a Cat Laugh" will enchant cat-lovers everywhere, and give Longden-lovers an unforgettable treat.

From the Back Cover
There is a clear hierarchy in the Longden household: Thermal, Tigger, Frink and Arthur, the four cats, rule the roost, Deric and his wife Aileen come a distinct second…
Ever since Thermal came in from the cold Deric has seen his life taken over by a motley crew of cats. Catering to their various whims and peccadilloes is an around-the-clock occupation and Deric invites his readers into his unique and wonderful world where his time is spent planning their menus, listening to their complaints and observing their adventures. Whatever happened to his full-time job as a writer?
Told with great humour and affection, Enough to Make a Cat Laugh is sometimes sad, often funny but always charming, and very soon the Longden family, whether four legged or two, will feel like old friends.

Customer Reviews
A must for any cat lover
Absolutely brilliant.
One of those books that you pick up with little expectations and you find yourself laughing out loud on a bus or teary eyed in the dentist or where ever you happen to be when you are reading it.
A proper 'can't put down' book that has since been lent to 3 other cat loving friends, all of which enjoyed it as much as I did.
A Must for any Cat Lover!!!
I was given Enough to make a Cat Laugh by my Grandparents for my birthday, and took it on holiday to read. I am a slow reader(being dyslexic) but found this book to be such a funny and easy read that I had finished it record time. I then passed it on to my Hubby(a quick reader) who finished it in a matter of hours.
Since then this book has been round the whole family, who have all enjoyed it, as have all the other Deric Longden books we have purchased since. However, Enough to make a Cat Laugh remains the favourite.
I notice that Deric has another book out in May, which I have just pre-ordered, and look forward to reading what the cats have been upto since we last caught up.
Thank you Deric for you wonderful books, you put a smile in the hearts of many.
A Must Buy Book if ever there was one"
I came across this book by accident - I wish all my accidents were this good! Deric Longden has an easy, readable style that immediately pulls you into his wonderful world and keeps you turning the pages for more. Accutely observed, but gentle humour, concerning those that are deeply loved - not least his wife and tribe of cats. This is not a book to read in public if you worry about being stared at. It is the perfect cure for the 'doldrums', although this does not mean that there are not some poignant moments.
By this book - you won't regret it, and I bet you read it more than once!
