Customer Reviews
The best guitarist in the world...ever!
If you've never heard the man play then you are missing out on an important musical experience.
Michael Hedges was one of the best players to pick up a guitar. Sadly he died in December 1997 in a motor vehicle accident. His style was second to none - two handed playing, fabulous alternate tunings but most of all beautiful beautiful music.
Most reviews you read (Amazon included) tend to focus on his seminal 1984 album "Aerial Boundaries". I rate "Oracle" as just as important, just as amazing and just as beautiful. From the opening "The 2nd Law" to the closing "When I Was 4" his playing simply oozes out of your CD player. There's even a great version of Frank Zappa's classic song, "Sofa No. 1".....
I can't force you to buy this CD, maybe if you're curious you should try "Aerial Boundaries" first but if you like acoustic guitar, beautiful tunes and fantastic guitar playing then save your pennies, Deutschmarks, dollars, etc and buy this too.
If you're like me, it may inspire you to pick up a guitar again after a long time!
