Stunning
A truncated version of this lasting an hour was shown on BBC4 last year and it was truly amazing. The standard of musicianship, sound and filming was as good as you are ever likely to see. It helps enormously that it was filmed at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club which gives an intimacy to the performances that larger venues will never do.

It helps of course if you have a fantastic band. Becks here is absolutely top notch whether you are talking Rock or Jazz. Vinnie Colaiuta is on drums. He's played with Chick Corea, Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa to name but a few. Technically one hell of a drummer. Tal Wilkenfeld is less well known, but building a great reputation as a bass player. Finally on keyboards is Jason Rebello, one of the UK's finest Jazz Pianists. Lets not forget one of the best rock guitarists of course Jeff Beck.

With the reputation of Jeff's backing musicians you might be thinking this isn't for you - long jazz solos etc. Well don't worry, there are long solos but Jeff Beck plays them, with all his usual inventivness. The other musicians get the occasional moment (well they did on the edited version I saw) but mainly provide a a great foundation for Jeff Beck.

The guests add some variety, and the rare chance to see Eric Clapton with Jeff Beck playing the blues is worth the price of the DVD alone. I shall be ordering my copy very soon!

masterful
This DVD has everything to keep you transfixed in front of your screen. I think it must be the best concert video I have ever seen, the production is beautiful, and you get lots of extras comared to the the CD version, including guest appearances (Clapton, etc) and interviews. I am sorry I missed these concerts, it was the thing to see (Page, Plant and others can be spotted in the audience!), but thanks to the video you can experience it. Absolute MUST HAVE for anybody interested in Jeff, guitar ... live music in general.

Utterly blooming brilliant!
This isn't just jazz - this is 155 minutes of thorough enjoyment. Anyone who (perhaps often quite rightly) thinks that old rockers should quietly retire and give us all a break is proven wrong by this fantastic performance by Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott's. The musicians in the band are first rate and complement Jeff Beck's mildly eccentric guitar play with their own virtuoso performances. And then there are the guests: Joss Stone; Imogen Heap and Eric Clapton. Borrow it from a stranger, share your friend's copy or buy it for yourself, but whatever you do don't miss out on this great performance.
