Notes to UK folks about the book...
Hello! I just wanted to mention that although the book is written with a US slant, I have had a great response over the past year from folks in the UK. With the printing of the third edition, I have corrected a few errors and updated the basic text. This book is applicable to all ages and details every aspect of vegetable oil and biodiesel fuel including: how to convert a car to run on straight vegetable oil, how to make biodiesel on any scale, as well as the history, economics, and mechanics of the fuel.

out of the frying pan3
I had heard rumours about the posibility of running diesels on alternative fuels before, but this book opened my eyes. If you have a practical bent and are willing to mess about with your car then you could potentially save a lot of money and the environment at the same time.

This book covers all the basic aspects of converting a diesel to run on used cooking oil, or converting the oil to biodiesel which can be used in any diesel engine. Whilst it's true you can find a lot of information on this subject on the web; you will find it gathered in on volume in this book.A word of warning though - to put these ideas into practise will take some time and effort. You need to be sufficently motivated to do it.Though it's not mentioned explicitly in the book I see no reason why you couldn't use these methods to power a generator either.

The book is clear and reasonably well laid out. A few more diagrams would have been nice, the books quality is what you expect for what must be a limited run by a minor publisher. If you are the sort of person who builds there own solar water heater or wind powered generators then this book is definitely for you. If you like to customise your car and like the idea of beating Mr Brown then you should read this.

You can't help but laugh at the thought of everybody smelling fish and chips as you drive past!

It convinced me to convert5
Its packed with information about the evils of fosssil fuel and the alternatives available now. I converted to the two tank system after reading this book (I found someone on the web and didnt do it myself). My only criticism is that he doesnt give the disadvantages of vegetable oil; there are still emissions and getting fuel is not as easy as going to a service station, and you have to dispose of the containers of the veg oil you buy. But its the best book, buy it and change your life.

A great inspiration5
I am completely overwhelmed with this book: It is a great inspiration and one of the best books I have read. I now intend to contact the Department of Trade & Industry and look into a grant so that I can start a busines in this field. Brilliant!
