Plain english guide to Switz
This is a must read for anyone planning a long term visit to Switz. I have taken up an assignment in Switz for a period of 18 months and found this book very useful. It has eased my stress of visiting a new country for the first time.
The contents are logically arranged and the language used is simple and plain english.
Highly recommended
Very useful book
The book contains loads of very useful information on the country. However, the one drawback was that there was little specific to the Geneva area where we were looking to move to. I still therefore had to do lots of other local research on the internet as well as reading this book.
Useful guide for Expats
I read this book just this month after spending over a year in Switzerland.
Most of the details are uptodate and I found them very useful. It serves as a reference guide when you need to know about something urgently. It has some useful tips and some good references if you need to dig deeper for a solution to your expat problem.
Having said that I found the cultural aspects very uninsightful. The author seemed confused himself about swiss people and the british directness was lacking. Maybe because I have already stayed over a year and have made up my own opinion about the Swiss , atleast those from the german speaking part, and was trying to see if my opinions matched that of the author.
I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who is planning to relocate to Switzerland as it would definitely make it easier for them to settle down and enjoy this country. I wish my swiss colleagues had given it to me on arrival!!
