Highly recommended
This is the best portuguese grammar book I have come across out of my vast collection of portuguese study materials. The author simplifies the distinction between the use of various tenses, demonstratives, articles and other aspects of grammar usage through narratives and examples. This book has been absolutely essential to my learning. My fiance's family have commented that I articulate better than their relatives in Portugal. With the help of this book, I am able to write letters overseas. My fiances' family overseas are very impressed especially since I am not portuguese. I highly recommend this book. The overall format, content and strucuture is better than any language textbook I have come across.
easy grammar
I've had this book now for 3 years. At first, I could only read a few sections as I begun to learn the basics in a begginer's class. As I progressed in Portuguese I found this book to be more and more valuable. It has helped me understand the most complicated niggling & annoying questions I've had about Portuguese sentence structures, and at the right times it seems. I would recommend it as along term companion rather than an instance fix as it is one of those useful books that you can't be without if you're going to invest long term in this language.
The next book to buy after a Portuguese dictionary....
I've only had this book 3 days but feel as though I've learned so much more already. It presents grammar facts clearly and concisely, with good explanations and examples of use. It's full of tips and essential information: like did you know that in English the word 'that' is often omitted (e.g. "I think * she is pretty") but you can't do this in Portuguese (you have to put in 'que'). It also has a Glossary of Grammatical Terms at the end which explains grammar jargon like 'conjugation' and what tenses are etc. I think this is the book which has helped me to develop my Portuguese skills the most. No-nonsense, straight to the facts. Excellent!
