Customer Reviews
"incontournable"
Ever felt unhappy in your job or got the feeling you hired the wrong person? This is one of the clearest, to-the-point books that I've read on the subject of hiring the right person for the right task. Arraoz presents the subject so clearly that even experienced people will benefit from the demystification. Describing many situations and aligning them with different skill-set requirements will be an eye-opener to many; as a company goes through different stages, the same job may require different qualities. Like many areas, HR is also entering the era of dynamics!
If you don't have the time to read dozen's of books on the subject and want to get a head-start; this book really is a good place to start.
interesting ideas but less depth than expected
i bought the book after reading some synopsis on the ideas of Claudio for good hiring and although the first chapters were extremely interesting with lots of data and intersting examples, i found that the later chapters were not really going into the depth or the practicality needed. it did not help you to get to the point of "now I know what to do better" but rather kept going on about the idea of how important it is to have great people and to select them etc...
Clear guide to netting the best executive candidates
Rather than focusing only on the process of recruiting and hiring, this book also discusses the importance of the decisions you confront when finding candidates, making your selection, negotiating offers and integrating new employees into your firm. Claudio Fernández-Aráoz shows you why people decisions matter more to your career and your company than you probably realize. The writing is clear and full of helpful real-world examples from his successful career. getAbstract recommends this conversational book to proactive managers who want a holistic approach to recruiting and hiring.
