Superb!
I read this way back when it first came out and it was mesmerising, and in 1988, quite alarming. Read it again recently and it is still great, a little dated, but sublimly brilliant battle scenes and strong characters still carry it through to the end, and who knows with current events, it could become quite relevent again.
Excellent Story
Written way back in the late 80's, the was the first Tom Clancy book I ever read and I am now on my second copy.
A depiction of what could of happened if the Warsaw pact had ever attacked NATO, it tells the story from both angles and the battle scenes are excellent. I have re-read the story many times now and even if you may not even remember those days, it is still a great read and a fantastic introduction to Tom Clancy.
A gripping read from start to finish!
Awesome is the word for this book. red Storm Rising hooks you from the first chapter & just keeps on reeling you in. The various scenarios played out involving land (ground troops, Tanks, Artillery) Sea (Submarines, Cruisers, Anti Sub boats) air (fighters, spy planes Helicopters) just keep you turning pages way into the night.
A must read!!
