Insights into a great writer's life and mind5
Paul Auster writes beguiling, complex and stylish novels. This collection shows that he is also a fine writer of non-fiction. The Invention of Solitude is a dark examination of Auster's relationship with his father and his son. Literary allusions and very honest admissions make his work essential reading. The Art of Hunger provides insights into his personality and his early writing career. Shorter pieces collect reviews, editor's introductions and essays on events such as 911, and all are compelling and wonderfully addictive.

A must read for anyone serious about reading, and the power of books, words and stories.
