Synopsis
Fed up, frustrated and fast approaching 40, Charlie Simpson hasn't had many high points in her life. She finds solace, however, in her newly acquired modem, she stumbles upon a stranger who's a like-minded soul, but he has a wife.

From the Back Cover
Fed up, frustrated and fast approaching forty, Charlie Simpson hasn't had many high points in her life just lately. The only peak on the horizon is her ambition to climb Everest, if she could only get organized and save up the cash.

Unfortunately, though, she has more pressing things to deal with; her eldest son moving out, her father moving in, and her best friend moving two hundred miles away. She finds solace, however, via her newly acquired modem, when she stumbles upon a stranger who's a like-minded soul. Like-minded, perhaps, but no fantasy dream date. Though virtual, he's of the real-life variety - he may be a hero, but he has a wife.

Charlie hasn't a husband, but she certainly has principles, and they're about to be hauled up a mountain themselves. And, of course, her mum's always said she shouldn't talk to strangers. The question is, is now the time to start breaking the rules?

A must read5
I borrowed this book from the library, and it was a fantastic read. It was so good in fact that I read it in one sitting! The heroine, Charlie is nearing 40 with two teenage sons. She finds life a bit lonely when her eldest son goes to university and her best friend moves away. To counteract the loneliness, she communicates with her friend by email. Complications arise when she discovers that she has sent things to the wrong email address - the "shaggable men" list and various ramblings, have not gone to her friend, but to the very handsome, but married local doctor. When it becomes clear that there is something developing between the two of them, Charlie must make the decision on whether or not to continue the relationship.

Ms Barrett-Lee has created a funny, wonderful book. I have not read any of her books before but this has prompted me to seek out her others and to buy a copy of this to re-read in future.

My only gripe about this book is that I finished reading it! If you like funny, heartwarming, chicklit type books with a difference, I would heartedly recommend this book.

One byte of this book is not enough!5
I loved this novel from start to finish. Lynne Barrett-Lee's humour is warm, fast and witty. Read it in one! Looking forward to her next.

Warm, poignant and with sweet believable characters4
Though it had a bit of a slow start for me once I got into this I thoroughly enjoyed it and looked forward to returning to it each night for my bedtime reading. Characters are well fleshed out and believable; does kids well which I like and the romantic hero was gorgeous, especially in flirtatious print...
